Ski slopes in Obertauern
From the village centre at an altitude of 1,740 metres, the slopes in Obertauern stretch out like the spokes of a giant wheel across the mountain slopes, reaching up to an altitude of 2,313 metres. “Ski-in, ski-out” applies from every point in the village. With just a few turns, winter sports enthusiasts find themselves on the perfectly groomed slopes, which offer a unique skiing experience thanks to the exceptional quality of the natural snow. The lifts are designed so that all slopes can be skied either clockwise or anti-clockwise until you return to the starting point. This legendary Tauern circuit is served by 26 modern cable cars and lifts, which act as access and connecting links to the approximately 100 kilometres of slopes. Nor does anyone need to take off their skis to cross the road, as generous ski bridges have been built. In addition, there are a total of 10 access points throughout the ski area, guaranteeing a relaxed lift ride at any time of day.
In summer, Obertauern boasts a 100-kilometre network of hiking trails: whether it’s a cable car hike with the children, a fantastic summit tour or a hike followed by a descent on the Mountain Skyver, the mountains reveal their most beautiful sides. Mountain biking, fishing, horse riding and golf are also available in the region.
