What is ice karting?

In Rucphen there is a 3,500 m² ice karting track. This is the only ice karting track in Europe where you can go ice karting all year round! You drive an electric kart across the ice and try to set the fastest time. You take the turns by drifting. This is a technique where you slide through the turn by accelerating at the right moment and steering correctly. So ice karting is all about technique and agility. Plus, there’s no noise pollution or gasoline fumes, making it a fun outing for everyone!

What should you bring for ice karting?

  • Gloves. These are also available for purchase at IceKart Rucphen-Breda.
  • A balaclava is required. This is a hood worn under your helmet. You can also purchase one at the front desk or in the online store. Of course, you’re welcome to bring your own if you already have one.
  • You may also bring your own helmet (provided it is a full-face helmet and CE-certified).

My first time ice karting on real ice

After you’ve checked in at the reception desk and been welcomed by the Head Marshall, your first task is to fill in your racing name. This will ultimately be used to place you in the standings. After watching an instructional video, you’ll put on a real IceKart jumpsuit and choose a helmet that fits well. You’ll be assigned an ice kart, which you can then get into. Drive forward and backward a bit (be careful not to hit anyone) so you know how everything works, and don’t forget to fasten your seatbelt. The first lap doesn’t count, so take your time getting used to the ice kart and the track!

Learn how to drift!

After the first heat, you’ll want to get back in your ice kart as soon as possible. Still, it’s nice to warm up for a bit. In the meantime, you’ll get tips from the marshals. They’ll give you the best advice on how to take the turns. Feeling confident, you’ll then hop back into your ice kart to beat your fastest lap time. One thing’s for sure: after ice karting, you’ll want to get back out on the ice and drift as soon as possible!

Golden Tips from IceKart Marshall Marco

  • Look straight ahead.
  • Leave your helmet visor slightly open, or it will fog up quickly!
  • Keep adjusting your throttle throughout the heat.
  • Use the entire width of the track. The inside line isn't always faster!

Two or four heats?

You can choose to book two or four heats. The more heats you book, the more time you’ll have to improve your skills and speed up your lap time! Want to experience ice karting for yourself?
