Nicolien Sauerbreij opens World Cup season in Landgraaf (NL)

The Dutch Ski Federation (NSKIV) and SnowWorld Landgraaf are proud to host the 8th LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Parallel Slalom in Landgraaf on Sunday October 10th 2010. The competition is once again season opener for all slalom snowboarding athletes. Among the athletes, of course, Olympic Champion Snowboarding Nicolien Sauerbreij, who dominated the field last year.

She wrote history, when she won the first Dutch medal off the ice skating rink. The Medal in Vancouver was also the 100th medal for the Netherlands on the Olympics.
Furthermore Sauerbreij also won the overall World Cup championship 2009/2010.
All Olympic medal winners of 2010 will start in Landgraaf.

Sauerbreij is one of the favorites for the victory in Landgraaf. She already finished third two times in the Dutch Mountains, but has not succeeded yet to gain the first place. All competitors will soon be announced by the organization committee.

90 snowboarders from 19 countries have signed in for the eight FIS Snowboard World Cup Parallel Slalom, which is held on Sunday October 10th in SnowWorld Landgraaf. Among them four Dutch ladies.

The qualifications will start at 09.00 hrs. and will end at 11.00 hrs. Finals will take place in between 13.00 and 15.00 hrs. Visitors can watch the competition for free, in the created visitor areas on the slopes and in the restaurants. After the World cup there will be a grand afterparty, with coverband Network, athletes and coaches. Visitors of course have free entrance to the afterparty.
